Regina Spektor Performing at White House for Jewish Heritage Month

Last week, guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela played an intimate gig at the White House, and cool acts performing at 1600 Pennsylvania apparently isn't stopping with them. In celebration of Jewish Heritage Month, piano-pop songstress Regina Spektor will perform on Thursday for the Obamas. Naturally, the Russian-born musician is extremely honored. "Having moved to America from Soviet Russia as a child with my family, we dreamed of reconnecting with our religious traditions and of making America our home" Spektor said in a statement. "Having lived here for over 20 years, it is an unimaginable honor to be invited to the White House by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, to an event celebrating Jewish Americans, and to be counted among them. Nothing in the world could make us feel more accepted and at home!"
This will mark the first-ever White House reception honoring Jewish Heritage Month. While the White House hasn't confirmed else will be attending, Israeli news outlet Haaretz points to rumors that baseball legend Sandy Koufax, author Judy Blume and Olympic swimmer Dara Torres will join Spektor.
In 2009, Spektor released 'Far' and she performed a few tracks from the album in our intimate Interface setting, so we know that whoever's at the event is in for a treat. More so, we can't help but wonder how one goes about getting the job of "White House Music Booker."

I wish I could attend! Regina put on a concert last November in Asheville, NC and it was amazing. Love her music, but doubt she will be singing Bobbing for Apples at the Obamas place!
