In an article for Spin, Mosshart, who is also the vocalist for the Kills, writes, "Festivals are hard for me. I think the daytime is ugly. I don't want to look out and see a rainbow of sunburns. It's not very rock 'n' roll.
"Whenever we play festivals, we end up having a good show and the crowds have a good time, but I'm not an outdoors person."
Mosshart has experienced difficulties at several festivals in the past. While performing with the Kills at Lollapalooza in 2008, she collapsed onstage. She does, however, reveal that one of her all-time favourite shows was seeing Jay-Z at the Glastonbury Festival.
In the piece, Mosshart also writes that she no longer enjoys the social side of festivals.
"Back in my early 20s it was incredibly exciting to hang around the festivals after I played," she says. "I felt like I knew everyone in every band. Then a few years went by and I didn't recognize anyone anymore. Half the bands that I knew broke up."
She concludes, "If I had my choice I would never play a show outside ever again."
Before that happens, Mosshart, Jack White and co have a minor engagement in a field in Somerset called Glastonbury. Let's hope she packs the sunblock.
