A recording of an emergency call has surfaced where a witness claims he saw drugs and injecting equipment in the hotel room where Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was found dead.TMZ has posted the 911 audio recording, where the hotel maintenance worker that found Gray's body tells authorities he saw a hypodermic needle and pills in the room. Mike Kellow, who worked at the TownePlace Suites in Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa, said he found the deceased in a corner of his room slumped against a wall.
As Spinner reported, the musician was found dead on Monday, May 24. Local police soon ruled out foul play. The remaining members of the band with Gray's wife Brenna have since held a press conference, where they paid tribute to their former bandmate.
Vocalist Corey Taylor said, "The only way I can sum up Paul Gray is love," while drummer Shawn Crahan added, "Paul was there from the very, very beginning and none of us would be on the path we're on right now in life or have the sorts of lives we have without him."
An autopsy found "no signs of foul play or significant trauma," though the cause of Gray's death will not be determined until toxicology results are returned within the next six weeks.
