Ali-Ollie Woodson, once lead singer with the Temptations, has died at the age of 58 after succumbing to cancer. Woodson died on Sunday, May 30, in southern California having been diagnosed with leukemia in 2008.Woodson sung with the famed soul group in the 80s and 90s after replacing former Temptations frontman and friend Dennis Edwards. Woodson co-wrote, co-produced and sang the Temptations 1984 hit 'Treat Her Like a Lady.' He also sang other Temptations favourites such as 'Lady Soul' and 'Sail Away'.
Billy Wilson, president of the Motown Alumni Association told the Associated Press, "He had this swagger about himself, he was cool. He had a coolness about himself that was really very inviting.
"If we ever asked him to do anything, he never said, 'Well, it's going to cost you.' He'd always say, 'Yeah, let's go'. He was just a star performer. Wonderful person. Wonderful, wonderful person. He was very kind."
Woodson's last album with the Temptations was 1995's 'For Lovers Only,' although in 2002 he joined the band again for a tour of Japan after their then-frontman Barrington 'Bo' Henderson had visa troubles.
Woodson enjoyed a successful solo career and also made several film appearances. He is survived by his wife Juanita and his children.

He was a Temptation and now he is gone. Another good guy going home. My prayers are with his wife and children. May he rest in eternal peace.

But definitely not in this instance. Mr. Woodson came in and, without trying to sound like any of his predecessors, took hold of the group and brought them in a new direction. His voice was pure, soulful and moving. He will be sorely missed. May you rest in Heaven, and my condolences to your family.

Much love to Ali-Ollie Woodson. Thanks to his family for sharing him with us. Ali was the last bright shooting star in the Temptations Constellation. God bless him.
