Paul McCartney Calls BP Oil Spill 'A Disgrace'
- Posted on Jun 3rd 2010 10:00AM by John D. Luerssen
Radiohead's Thom Yorke isn't the only rock giant disgusted by the ongoing BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. On Wednesday, Paul McCartney called the spill "a disgrace" as he spoke to the media in advance of his receipt of the Gershwin Prize for music at the White House."The fact that something like that could happen and the people who are to blame don't have the ability to instantly cap it and clean it up, it's something that's got to be addressed," he told reporters. When pressed for his ideas on cleaning up the environmental nightmare, McCartney added, "I'm not a politician, so I wouldn't know."
In related news, McCartney has just expanded his North American summer tour, adding five dates to his 'Up and Coming' trek. The onetime Beatle will play the Pepsi Center in Denver on July 15, the Sprint Center in Kansas City on July 24, Toronto's Air Canada Centre on Aug. 8, the Bell Centre in Montreal on Aug. 12 and the Consol Energy Arena in Pittsburgh on Aug. 18. Tickets for all shows go on sale to the general public on June 14 after a presale via McCartney's official website on June 9.

Pres Bush made a mess and dropped it in Obama's lap to clean up. And the snail paced movement in fixing the leak is a disgrace. Bankrupt I doubt it did you see their profit .

Also, I remember during the time Bush Sr. was president, McCartney was showing films during his concert which were even then insulting to our whole country. He had footage of Bush Sr. and it was anti USA. He comes here and makes his millions and spits on all of us.

Yes, the Beatles were popular before coming to the US, but we did help their career no doubt. This isn't a case of not being able to use free speech, it's about doing what's decent and having respect. He has no respect for America obviously. He is the first non American to receive the award, making his Bush statement even worse. His award had nothing to do with Bush, and just because he didn't like him doesn't mean you come here and insult a whole nation. I'm boycotting McCartney!

By the way, weren't you too dumb to hang on to your publishing rights for your song catalog, now thats the epitome of ignorance. Its not like you were a novice in the music business who was taken advantage of by some slick manager.
I am not even going to bring up Heather Mills...oops, guess I just did.
Sir Paul, aren't all your CD's made from petroleum products?
