Sir Paul McCartney Serenades Michelle Obama at the White House
- Posted on Jun 3rd 2010 5:10AM by Julian Marszalek
Despite admitting that his memory isn't quite as sharp as it used to be -- maybe it's almost full? -- Sir Paul McCartney played to the First Family at the White House on Wednesday, June 2, when the former Beatles bassist was honoured with the annual Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.Receiving his award from US President Barack Obama, Sir Paul revealed himself to be as much a fan of the politician as the Commander-in-Chief was of him.
He said, "Mr President said that we're going through difficult times on a number of fronts but when I knew that I was coming here tonight, I knew that I had to say that even though we all know that you've got lots of difficult issues to deal with, I just want you to know that you have billions of us who are rooting for you."
Sir Paul then went on to perform a number of some of his best-known and best-loved songs including 'Michelle' -- which was directed at the First Lady -- and 'Hey Jude.'
Other performers at the special East Room concert included Elvis Costello, Corinne Bailey Rae and the White Stripes' Jack White. The concert will be broadcast on US TV on July 28.
The Gershwin Prize for Popular song honours the work of an artist whose work and career are judged to have promoted song as a "vehicle of musical expression and cultural understanding."

THE BEATLEâs have Satanist Aleister Crowley on the cover of âSgt Pepperâs Lonely Hearts Club Bandâ album, Why?
THE BEATLESâ PAUL McCARTNEY; McCartney said: "We didn't all get into music for a job! We got into it to avoid a job, in truth-and get lots of girls." In 1964 Paul McCartney stated, "We probably seem to be anti-religious none of us believes in God." Paul McCartney told Life magazine that he was "deeply committed to the possibilities of LSD as a universal cure-all." He went on to say, "After I took it, it opened my eyes. We only use one-tenth of our brain. Just think what all we could accomplish if we could only tap that hidden part. It would mean a whole new world. If politicians would
use LSD, there would be no more war, poverty or famine" (Life, June 6, 1967, p. 105).
He can go home. We do not need a Brit insulting our ex- President & insinuate he does not read. His wife is a teacher & a librarian. So Paul McCartney can take his smart a-- insults & get out of our country. He has lost one fan here.
Same thing with Bono who thinks he is God's gift to the world. He can go back to Ireland, because after leaving Africa with Bush he had to insult him, too. After all the assistance Bush gave to Africa, which was more then any other President had ever done. He lost a fan, also.
I DIDN T KNOW PAUL COULD SING RAP.....

And I'm certainly rooting for some solution to this horrific oil spill. I don't see much that the federal government can do except keep BP's feet to the fire on the cleanup.
