Camera Obscura Host Ice Cream Party in New York

Camera Obscura may not be Brooklyn natives, but many of the borough's residents braved the heated Vault inside the Brooklyn Flea to see the Scottish pop band play a free pop-up show on Sunday. The show was the first of many shows the weekly flea market plans to host this summer."There's more people [here] than we anticipated, so that's nice," frontwoman Tracyanne Campbell told the crowd as the band got ready to play their set.
In addition to the 30-minute show, local ice cream shop Blue Marble gave away free scoops of "The Sweetest Cream" in honor of the band's song 'The Sweetest Thing.' Camera Obscura got into the flea market spirit by setting up their own shop and selling limited edition t-shirts and tote bags designed especially for the day's event along with typical band merch.
The band mainly played songs from 2009's 'My Maudlin Career' but also performed some of their older material like 'Let's Get Out of This Country' and 'Lloyd, I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken.' Camera Obscura also made it clear they saw this as an opportunity to show their gratitude to their fans in the Big Apple.
"It's kind of a way to thank the people of New York who come see us and give you a treat," Campbell said.
Camera Obscura will be ending their stint of US shows in New York's Grand Ballroom Monday night and will play Harmonic Cork with Grizzly Bear, Midlake and Villagers in Cork, Ireland on June 25.
