Pauly D of 'Jersey Shore' Nominated for America's Best DJ, Angers Actual DJs

DJ Pauly DThe American DJ community has long struggled for respect in the wider music world, and those efforts just took a huge hit when 'Jersey Shore' star Pauly D was nominated alongside a host of superstar DJs and legendary wax-spinners in the annual America's Best DJ competition.

Admittedly, the hundred-long list leaves room for lesser-calibre names alongside the likes of Detroit techno icons Jeff Mills and Carl Craig, house heroes Armand Van Helden and Derrick Carter; turntablists Cut Chemist and Mixmaster Mike and hipster party-starters A-Trak (NYC via Montreal) and Diplo.

Still, 'DJ' Pauly D's inclusion has upset many, including last year's winner Z-Trip who tweeted "Being last years winner, I have 2 say, it's a bit of a knock 2 all the OG's 2 include Pauly D on Americas Best DJ 2010 ballot."

"While I respect his hustle to get over on people, I personally don't feel he's done the work needed to be included on the list...2 me, he is on that list based mostly off of the show, not his skill level. I'm hoping people vote 4 the right DJ's based on skill, not fame."

Continuing his rant, Z-Trip wrote: "Again, Pauly, get yours in this world. But if you win, I can't help but feel let down. U R no Jazzy Jeff, A-Trak, Craze, etc. Not yet anyway. Keep practicing, like the rest of us, let UR skills rise. If U keep at it, eventually U can earn it. But nobody knew who U were b4 the show."

Speaking of Craze, he also took to twitter to decry the Jersey Shore star's inclusion: "yeah I'm in there but now I don't wanna be ..... Pauly D is nominated .... That comp has no cred."

There is another DJ in RI that has used the name Pauly D for many years before the Jersey Shore.
Perhaps the two should have a spin off to see who the real Pauly D is.

this fuckin ass clown is from my city, and believe me, he was a joke here too before he hit the show.. i can't even wrap my head around this ish. Dj? come on!! he's a dick not a Dj. the problem with this country is ppl who are into shit like that.. I disagree. The single "D" is correct as it obviously stands for "Douchebag". Its good for him too. He can alternate between Dikkhead, and Dumbazz.

This has to be the BIGGEST joke since snookie getting snuffed. Paulie D hasn't put in the time, effort, nor has even 1/10000000th of the skill set needed to be considered America's best DJ. That is a straight insult not only to the legends that are nominated but to all dj's who have paid there dues period. Just the fact that he is even nominated shows its all commercial and has nothing to do with talent, and God forbid he wins it the title will be 100% useless IMO. This guy couldn't carry headphones for the real names on here. PERIOD! stick to TV Pauly DJ skills have nothing to do with how big of a douche you can be on TV or how big your muscles are, how much you tan, or how poorly you "mix" with your pre-mixed serato sets. I would like to see this clown play a vynal set I would be willing to bet he couldnt beat match 110BPM house music even if his entire set was records by the same producer... LAME!
