Young Galaxy Announce New EP, 'YG No Art'

Even if you can't make it to Toronto to check out Young Galaxy's NXNE gig next week, fans of the spaced-out Montreal rockers should have something to celebrate. The band is releasing a brand new digital EP, 'YG No Art,' next Tuesday, June 15, in conjunction with their appearance at the five-day festival. The six-song EP will include three tracks that didn't make the cut on the band's last record, 'Invisible Republic,' a cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Suzanne,' as well as a pair of remixes, one by Graham Lessard, who played a little guitar on 'Invisible Republic' and another by someone named the Distortion.
"This guy, he's in a band but he likes to be a mystery man," explains Young Galaxy's front-man and guitarist Stephen Ramsay. "He's a friend of mine from here who's in another band. He's just starting to do remixes."
"We had these extra tracks and some extra material and it's a good way to keep the name out there," he says of the EP. "It's a mish-mash of things, but hopefully it doesn't feel like a throwaway thing. I personally think it's interesting -- It's not indicative of the band as people normally think of us, but that's a good thing."
Ramsay acknowledges that it's coming out with very little notice, but that's the way things work without the support of a label.
"We feel it's a nice little document that will bridge the gap between the last record and the one we're working on."
