Blitzen Trapper Prove Buzz Worthy at Bonnaroo

Blitzen Trapper is having a banner week. Their new album dropped on Tuesday and on Thursday they performed at Bonnaroo. "We're playing some new songs tonight," they announced casually. "We've got a record that came out this week." And with that, Blitzen Trapper introduced one of their biggest audiences ever to what is surely their crowning achievement to date -- the sprawling epic, 'Destroyer of the Void,' which opens up the new album of the same name. But the band also showcased other new gems from their exciting new release. The album is set to become their game changer, so they stayed focused on their new material, thinking that they were introducing songs such as 'Love and Hate,' 'Laughing Lover,' 'Evening Star,' and 'Below the Hurricane' to newcomers, onlookers and fans alike. But, for an album that was just released two days ago -- officially, anyway -- an impressive chunk of the crowd already seemed quite familiar, cheering at the start of each new tune. Not to mention the roar that erupted when Blitzen Trapper launched into their "deep cut," the fanciful 'Fur' from the 2008 album of the same name.
In other words, on the night that Bonnaroo gave buzz bands the spotlight, Blitzen Trapper proved entirely buzz worthy.
