Days after Brighton and Hove City Council courted controversy by advertising for a position on a recruitment website with the words "Status Quo fans need not apply", the nearby coastal town of Eastbourne has sent a message out to Quo fans that they are welcome to visit and enjoy a tribute concert to the rockers next Friday, June 18.Brighton's council offended Status Quo and their legions of fans when advertising for four strategic director positions this week. The Quo, led by veterans Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi, responded by suggesting they might hang a banner that reads "Councillors for Brighton and Hove need not attend" when the band play the Brighton Centre in December.
Meanwhile, the Eastbourne tribute concert will feature Status Quo imitators Counterfeit Quo, and takes place at the seafront venue that is the Eastbourne Bandstand.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said, "It is very timely that we have the Status Quo tribute concert on Friday and hope that the band's fans will choose to visit Eastbourne for a great night out."
