Ingrid Michaelson Heads in Poppier Direction
- Posted on Jun 15th 2010 12:15PM by Dan Reilly
Sometimes all it takes for an artist to win over new fans is an excellent, if slightly odd choice of cover. Take Ingrid Michaelson, for example: the singer-songwriter's recent Bonnaroo set was punctuated by her version of Britney Spears' hit 'Toxic,' which she's been performing for a while. Michaelson's version is faithful to the original but is naturally filtered imbued with her acoustic-based indie-pop sensibilities. What really set it apart is the choreographed dance routine she and her band take part in to end the song.Still, it's not as if the Spears cover is Michaelson's only claim to fame. Her 2009 album 'Everybody' hit No. 18 on the Billboard charts and many of her songs have been featured on television, most notably on 'Grey's Anatomy'.' As she said in a recent interview with the Cincinnati Enquirer, she's aiming to move her music in a "poppy' direction, possibly with a few dance mixes thrown in for good measure. While we'll have to wait on that, check out the video of her Bonnaroo version of 'Toxic' after the jump.

It's fun. They don't take themselves seriously and it's "spoofy". Liked it alot!

Where's the video of "Toxic"? It's not there.
