Slash Attacked During Milan Show
- Posted on Jun 16th 2010 5:30AM by Julian Marszalek
With echoes of Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher being felled by a stage invader in Canada, one-time Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has been attacked on stage by a crazed fan. The incident occurred at a gig in Milan, Italy, on Thursday, June 10, just as Slash was launching into the guitar solo of 'Sweet Child O' Mine.' Footage of the incident shows a man stripped to the waist running from the wings. Chased by a security guard, the man -- described by some newspaper reports as having blood caked around his mouth -- attempted to rugby tackle the corkscrew-haired guitarist.
As the attacker attempted to lay his hands on Slash, the pursuing security guard managed to catch hold of the man, while Slash's twisting body movement sent him falling off the stage. In a nonchalant manner, the guitarist continued his solo until changing his instrument due to an apparent crack in the neck.
Writing about the incident on his Facebook page, Slash appeared unfazed by the incident saying, "What'd I say? Rowdy crowd for sure. But amazing! The guy who nailed me didn't take me down but he busted my poor guitar. Ah well, it was a kick-ass rock show."
