Hundreds of fans are expected to line the route of the funeral process of former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable who will be laid to rest in his home town of Aberdare, South Wales on Monday, June 21.As reported on Spinner, Cable was found dead in his home on June 7 after a lengthy drinking binge though the results of the post mortem are yet to be established pending the outcome of toxicology tests.
Speaking to the BBC, Simon Lloyd, mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said, "Monday will be a sad day as we say our final farewells and pay respects to Stuart, who has always held the valleys close to his heart, even when he attained the success he did in his life."
Mr Lloyd continued, "He will be remembered for the pride he installed in people and the inspiration he gave them, as a boy from Cynon Valley who became an international star, but still kept his home in his heart."
Cable was one of the original members of Stereophonics, but was fired in 2003 after his dedication to the band was called into question. Despite the setback, Cable launched a successful media career including stints at Xfm's now defunct Welsh wing and BBC South Wales. More recently, Cable found himself behind the kit as drummer of Killing for Company.
