AC/DC Brothers Win Songwriters of the Year Award

AC/DC brothers Malcolm and Angus Young have been named Songwriters of the Year at an awards ceremony in Australia. The Aussie rockers picked up the gong at the APRA awards held this week in their home country, reports Digital Spy.

Other winners at the APRA awards included Temper Trap, who won Song of the Year, and Empire of the Sun, whose members picked up the Breakthrough Songwriters award.

On a more local level, Aboriginal musician Jimmy Little won the Ted Albert Award For Outstanding Service to Australian Music.

The award success is a further shot in the arm to AC/DC, who are seemingly riding on an unstoppable train of success at the moment, with their greatest-hits-of-sorts album 'Iron Man 2 OST' topping the European album chart on release, as previously reported by Spinner.

The band also headlined this year's Download Festival and brought their own stage to the event, which saw acts such as Rage Against the Machine and Aerosmith also play headline slots.

Love AC/DC believe there was a different drummer for a few years in 80s or 90s or 80s into 90s. May be Back in Black line-up now though. Stones lost Wyman in the 90s, ZZ Top definately leads with over 40 years.

Ah Karen, ignorance is bliss huh? Yeah, I refuse to grow up, I'm going to enjoy life as long as I possibly can. If that means not growing up.....well SO BE IT! Hey, it beats the hell out of being a stick up someones rear end. YOU enjoy life YOUR way and I'll enjoy it MINE, just remember you are either the rain or the parade. The choice is yours.

Thats Brian Johnson and Angus on the photo,not brothers.Oddly angus and I have the same birthday,March 31st...I dont know about them being the best song writers but if you like good ole rock n roll they are about the best.If you want serious rock song writing go youtube tool ....check out some song with lyrics if you can find them.....deep man...Anyway,good for ac/dc,they have earned it all.

The fact that Paul Weller, singer-songwriter extraordinaire, of former bands like The Jam and Style Council was beaten out by an AUSTRALIAN band in AUSTRALIA tells me everything I need to know.

Sharon: Thank you for confirming my suspicions. And as for raidrmik67: I wouldn't be bragging about writing the music OR lyrics for that trashy,juvenile band. I guess they would be timeless for all of you people who never grew up. These "men" primarily appeal to immature boys and men. For any women out there who like them, infer what you must!
