Orbital Get Glastonbury Help From Doctor Who Matt Smith

Glastonbury veterans Orbital were always likely to have something special up their sleeves for their appearance at the festival's 40th birthday bash. It turned out to be something, or someone, otherwordly.Matt Smith, the current incarnation of TV's 'Doctor Who,' beamed down onto the Other Stage for the electronic duo's finale on Sunday evening. Not only did the actor introduce Orbital's cover of his show's theme tune, he even donned a pair of the Hartnoll brothers' trademark light-up glasses and apparently helped out behind the group's synthesizer set-up. You can see the video after the jump.
Orbital released a version of Delia Derbyshire and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop's classic composition as 'Doctor?' on their 2001 album 'The Altogether.' They also covered the tune -- which was created in 1963 using spliced and manipulated sections of analogue tape, making it a pioneering early example of electronic music -- during their 2004 set down on Worthy Farm.
The recently reformed techno heroes have played the Somerset weekender half a dozen times, with their 1994 set, in particular, going down in history as one of the all-time great Glasto performances. Matt Smith, meanwhile, began his stint as an intergalactic Time Lord in April this year.

I only know of Technologicque Park by Orbital because it's on the xXx soundtrack but this seems a pretty great combination.

A string of wonderful albums and probably the finest LIVE alternative dance band you will ever see in your life. Bring it on Orbital!
