My Morning Jacket Guitarist Carl Broemel to Release Solo Album

Yes, it's true -- the members of My Morning Jacket were recently called back to active duty. They've got several high-profile festivals, a stint opening for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, their own headlining expedition and a five-night stand in New York City -- during which they will perform their entire studio discography -- all on their plate right now. In the midst of this new flurry of activity, guitarist Carl Broemel has unveiled plans for a solo album, which will drop August 31 on ATO Records. Entitled 'All Birds Say,' the album is said to be a folky, introspective affair. "I think there's a lot of trying to be aware of what you're doing now, versus dwelling on things, or worrying about what's gonna happen later," said Broemel in a statement issued to the press. "A lot of the songs are really just me talking to myself, trying to make sense of things in my head."
And to think, the rest of us take to, say, Twitter to do that sort of thing these days. Expect the MP3 of the first single, 'Heaven Knows,' to be making the rounds by the time your next coffee break rolls around.
