My Morning Jacket Guitarist Carl Broemel to Release Solo Album

Yes, it's true -- the members of My Morning Jacket were recently called back to active duty. They've got several high-profile festivals, a stint opening for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, their own headlining expedition and a five-night stand in New York City -- during which they will perform their entire studio discography -- all on their plate right now. In the midst of this new flurry of activity, guitarist Carl Broemel has unveiled plans for a solo album, which will drop August 31 on ATO Records. Entitled 'All Birds Say,' the album is said to be a folky, introspective affair.

"I think there's a lot of trying to be aware of what you're doing now, versus dwelling on things, or worrying about what's gonna happen later," said Broemel in a statement issued to the press. "A lot of the songs are really just me talking to myself, trying to make sense of things in my head."
