Neil Young has announced plans to tour the Gulf Coast during the third leg of his ongoing Twisted Road solo US tour. The music legend, who has focused his attention on energy issues in the past, intends to focus in on Southern areas affected by the BP oil spill.Although just one concert has been confirmed -- a Sept. 23 show at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Fla. -- additional slots on his itinerary are being held in reserve for the fall excursion. "Other dates will be announced that are surrounding this show in Florida and on the Gulf Coast," Young wrote on his website. "I am looking forward to playing Florida and the Gulf Coast."
That statement comes on the heels of Young's first-ever Facebook message last week, in which he pondered revisiting his 1974 'On the Beach' track, 'Vampire Blues,' which counts the lines, "I'm a vampire, babe, sell you 20 barrels worth."
In advance of Gulf Coast run, Young has a three-week slate of West Coast gigs, which will get underway on July 11 in Oakland. Rolling Stone suggests Young will continue testing out material from his forthcoming Daniel Lanois-produced album.
