Grace Jones Irish Gigs Cancelled Over Contract Dispute
- Posted on Jun 30th 2010 5:15AM by Chris Cope
Grace Jones has been forced to pull four gigs in Ireland from her schedule after promoters were accused of a breach of contract. She was set to play shows in both Dublin and Cork in July, but her agent has claimed promoter Rockefeller Productions of failing to keep to their agreement, reports Contactmusic.
Agent Michael Schweiger has said in a statement that the organisers failed to pay deposits and also began advertising the dates without a contract having been signed by the artist.
The statement said, "The reported performance dates for Grace Jones in Dublin and Cork (from) July 21-24 have been cancelled. The promoter ... is in breach of his contract by failing to pay deposits and advertising these dates without a fully executed artist agreement. We apologise to Grace's devoted fans there in Ireland and hope to be in concert there in the near future."
Those who had already bought tickets for the shows are advised to get a refund from the point of sale.
The notorious Jones has recently been on record accusing Lady Gaga of copying her style, as previously reported by Spinner, and snubbed the US pop star when it was revealed Gaga was interested in collaborating with Jones.
