Johnny Marr has contributed to Hans Zimmer's original score for forthcoming Christopher Nolan movie 'Inception.' Starring Leonardo Dicaprio, the soundtrack will be released on July 13, three days before the sc-fi thriller hits screens. The 52-year old German composer whose previous work includes 'The Dark Knight' score -- for which he won his most recent Grammy -- enlisted Marr to play guitar on what Zimmer described in a joint statement as "a very electronic score."
He added, "There is orchestra, but the electronics share an equal spotlight, and I also have Johnny Marr playing guitar. Besides Johnny and the orchestra, everything else stays virtual throughout the mix."
For Marr, working with the Oscar-winner was a goal realised, "I enjoyed working on 'Inception', it's a great soundtrack. Hans invited me and he's someone I've wanted to work with for a long time. We really got into it, it's a really good movie."
It's not Marr's first soundtrack involvement this year -- the former Smiths-turned-Cribs man composed the music for 'The Big Bang,' a Tony Kratz-directed film due for release in the autumn.
