Of course, anybody who has flipped on MTV or VH1 in the past decade can probably say the same thing about the fate of music videos. Sure, the Internet saved the video star, but nonetheless, what videos have you watched on an actual television lately? So, no dummies, Portugal. the Man once again seized the day by making a badass video while they still had the opportunity to do so. And they did it right.
This video for 'The Dead Dog' from the band's current release, 'American Ghetto,' was directed by Graham Baclagon and filmed in Chicago. It harkens back to the classic era of music videos, complete with bandanas, break dancers, thieves, creepy old dudes and a pillow fight at a seedy motel. In one scene, a guitar even gets smashed for extra measure. In other words, 'The Dead Dog' contains all the main ingredients of a vintage music video. Except it doesn't feel vintage -- it feels current. And it is. Check it out below.
