The Arcade Fire have been road-testing material from their soon-to-be-released third album, 'The Suburbs,' during their current series of European shows, and frontman Win Butler says his band are rising to the challenge. "It's been cool playing songs the fans haven't heard before," the singer told NME. "It's like boot camp --- for the new songs and for us being on the road again. I feel like we are playing the best we ever have." The Montreal seven-piece, who are playing Hackney Empire in London on Wednesday night, July 7, performed a 16-song set including a handful of new tunes at Paris' Casino de Paris on Monday.
The Quebecois rockers kicked off their Parisian evening with two 'The Suburbs' tracks -- 'Ready to Start' and 'Modern Man' -- and scattered various other songs from the Aug. 2-due album such as 'Empty Room,' 'The Suburbs,' 'Suburban War,' 'We Used to Wait' and 'Month of May' throughout the gig. Butler and Co. concluded their performance with 'Funeral' number 'Intervention' and 'Wake Up' from 'Neon Bible'.
