It's not that we don't want to see Mark Oliver Everett (aka "E") happy; it's just that we're not used to the idea. His musical projects, under the name the Eels, have long been his sounding board for anything and everything in this world that's been bringing him down, from relationships to tragedies. Of course, the two are very often one and the same. After a four-year silence, E returned in 2009 with an album that seemed to reflect a renewed appetite, 'Hombre Lobo,' only to go on a hunger strike, so to speak, just six months later with 'End Times,' a brilliantly hushed album about the way in which the ship always ends up going down. There is no happy ending.
Strike that. On the third Eels album in less than two years, E completes the trilogy by giving us the light at the end of the tunnel. "After what seems like an incredibly dark time, the hope that tomorrow is coming gives us all another chance," E said in a statement about the release. "As long as there's a morning tomorrow, anything is possible."
Especially when you've got a companion to share it with -- on 'Spectacular Girl,' E appears to have found just such a mate. "This is a song about a very spectacular girl," E told Spinner. "You don't know her, but you should." Check out the latest new Eels track from the upcoming 'Tomorrow Morning,' below. It's "spectacular."
