COURTNEY LOVE: The Hole frontwoman and Manga fan leapt at the opportunity to create her own Japanese comic book, calling it 'Princess Ai' (Ai means "love" in Japanese). The princess seems to be Love's alter-ego, while the character Kent, Ai's love interest, may be based on Love's late husband, Kurt Cobain.
EMINEM: The rambunctious rapper joined forces with Marvel Comics in 2009 to create a special comic book titled, terrifyingly, 'Eminem/Punisher: Kill You.'
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE: The Welsh thrash metallers' sophomore album, 'Scream Aim Fire,' got its very own comic book, with writer Tom Manning penning and drawing comics for all 11 songs on the album. The band also commissioned 15-second animated trailers to go with the songs and comics.
AVRIL LAVIGNE: In 2007, Del Rey Manga partnered with the Canadian pop-punk star to create 'Make 5 Wishes,' a comic wherein Avril plays an inspirational superhero to a young teenage girl.
BELLE AND SEBASTIAN: The Scottish indie poppers made their foray into the four-color world with 2006's 'Put the Book Back on the Shelf.' The collection takes its name from a track on the band's EP '3.. 6.. 9 Seconds of Light,' and features 24 stories based upon songs from the band's back catalog.
FALL OUT BOY: Working with Image Comics, the pop-punk princes released 'Fall Out Toy Works' in 2009. The series is inspired by the band's lyrics and follows the story of an android, "Tiffany," who is based upon the 2008 track 'Tiffany Blews.'
FOO FIGHTERS: They may well be fans, but Dave Grohl and band sued comic book giant Marvel Comics in 2008, claiming excerpts from the songs 'Best of You' and 'Free Me' were used in a trailer for a Wolverine and X-Men animation. KAPOW!
GERARD WAY (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE): Former comic book store clerk Way's award-winning series, 'The Umbrella Academy,' first appeared on the scene in 2007. It has been hitting shelves every month since then and has a tentative movie tie-in scheduled for 2012.
GHOSTFACE KILLAH (WU-TANG CLAN): As well as adopting the aliases "Ironman" and "Tony Starks," Ghost has shown his love for comic books with the 2009 release, 'Cell Block Z.' The book features his alter-ego, "Cole Dennis," a boxer with a lethal right hook who attempts to escape from a high-tech prison.
THE HOLD STEADY: The Brookyn-based rockers' 2007 album 'Boy and Girls in America' got an animated book companion, with each song getting a separate section with the lyrics serving as the words.
