Having completed the side-project route in the shape of the Last Shadow Puppets, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner is becoming something of a renaissance man after it was announced that he's written the sound track for upcoming Britflick 'Submarine.'According to a report on ContactMusic, the album is set to be mixed by Arctic Monkeys and Klaxons producer James Ford and the film will be directed by 'IT Crowd' star Richard Ayoade. The director approached Turner after helming Arctic Monkeys' live film, 'At the Apollo,' as well directing the videos for 'Fluorescent Adolescent,' 'Cornerstone' and 'Crying Lightning.'
'Submarine' concerns the travails of a 15-year-old boy as he attempts to lose his virginity while trying to keep his parents together at the same time. The film is expected to hit the screens in 2011 and is based on Joe Dunthorne's novel of the same name.
In doing so, Turner joins a host of rock stars including Sir Paul McCartney, Nick Cave and Pop Will Eat Itself's Clint Mansell, who have all made asmooth transition to composing movie scores.
