Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and Roger Waters Reunite Once Again
- Posted on Jul 12th 2010 6:50AM by Julian Marszalek
Five years after performing at Live 8 and just two months after Roger Waters stated that he and guitarist David Gilmour are unlikely to ever perform together again, the Pink Floyd lynchpins found themselves sharing a stage once again. They played a number of classics from their back catalogue at a charity gig in aid of the HOPING Foundation on Saturday, July 10, according to Gilmour's site.Aided by Guy Pratt on bass, keyboardists Harry Waters and Jonjo Grisdale, guitarist Chester Kamen and Andy Newmark behind the drum kit, the makeshift group played the Teddy Bears' 'To Know Him is to Love Him,' 'Wish You Were Here,' 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2).'
Organised by fashion designer Bella Freud and academic and former PLO representative Karma Nabulsi, the gig took place at Kidlington in Oxfordshire and raised £350,000 ($525,000 US) for HOPING (Hope and Optimism for Palestinians in the Next Generation).
Whether this means that the door is open for Gilmour to join Waters for his upcoming revival tour of Pink Floyd's 1979 classic, 'The Wall,' is anybody's guess. But further reunions now seem a little more likely.

If they reunited on a world tour that would be awesome indeed but without Rick Wright it would not be the same, to me. I am very thankful I have seen all 4 of them together some 25 times live. I'm very happy with that.

I've only seen them about 15 times, but it was always the best ever, or so it seemed. Waters and Gilmour are the heart and sould of the band. If you think they're phony without Wright, stay home. I'll buy your tickets, as well as my own. The Stones survived without Brian Jones and then Mick Ralphs. Floyd would be just fine.

It was one of the most boring shows I've ever been to. If you're going for special effects it was great. I'd rather stay at home or listen to them in car. Better than spending money on ticket then hassling for parking. Not great live group.

We did boo the first set, but once local DJ John DeBella came onto the stage and asked the 120,000+ people (JFK held 102,000 for football, they were selling general admission on the field and it wasn't sold out) there to move back, Floyd came back on and gave us one of the best concerts I had ever seen.

I'll watch on TV at those prices.
Sorry, Fred, but Gilmour and Waters do not "owe" you, me or any other Floyd fan ANYTHING! And we do not "rightfully deserve" any tour or concert from the two of them. They have their differences, and that is THEIR "right". They made amazing music while in the band and what they decide to do or NOT to do, is none of our business. Besides, as it is now, the "band" they would be touring as would no longer be Pink Floyd without the late Richard Wright, it would just be a shell of a band calling themselves Pink Floyd. Like the band that calls itself The Who without Keith Moon and John Entwistle - a JOKE of a formerly great band. Is THAT how you wish to see the Floyd? While I was lucky enough to see PF many times, starting in the early 70's, I would not go see a band called Pink Floyd now as it would not be the real Pink Floyd. I am sorry that you feel these musicians "owe" you something. How sad......

We have been treated to the best these artists could give us for many years and we have already been more than satisfied. How can we demand anything. It's thier gig.
