The Flaming Lips Dream of Roger Waters Collaboration
- Posted on Jul 14th 2010 5:45AM by Julian Marszalek
Oklahoma's premier psychedelicists the Flaming Lips have had few problems attracting guest artists to their ongoing metaphysical party. Their current album, 'Embryonic,' features guest appearances from MGMT and Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O but frontman Wayne Coyne has revealed his dream collaboration -- Pink Floyd's Roger Waters.Having recently recorded and released their own version of Pink Floyd's 1973 classic, 'Dark Side of the Moon,' Coyne explained to BBC 6 Music that out of all the possible collaborators in the musical universe, the bassist's presence would be most welcome in the Flaming Lips' camp.
"There are so many out there -- living and dead -- but maybe since we did this Pink Floyd record Roger Waters will turn up and say, 'You know, I don't play with Pink Floyd anymore; would you mind if I sat in?'" he said.
"I think he'd probably want to punch us!" Coyne jokingly added.
Coyne also revealed that, despite a heavy touring schedule, plans are already afoot for the band's 13th album.
"We are always recording and we're always playing shows and we're always making a version of a movie about ourselves so there's never really a moment when you're not doing it."
