David Gilmour to Join Roger Waters for Live Show
- Posted on Jul 15th 2010 9:15AM by Farah Ishaq
Roger Waters and David Gilmour are to reunite live on stage again, after the Pink Floyd pair had a ball performing together at the HOPING Foundation charity gig in Oxfordshire last Friday, July 10.Posting the news on Facebook, Waters excitedly explains that Gilmour has offered to join him on stage at the 30th anniversary resurrection of 'The Wall' live shows which he begins in Canada on Sept. 15, and comes to the UK in May 2011.
He describes how he was "blown away" when former bandmate Gilmour emailed and proposed, "If you do 'To Know Him is to Love Him' for The HOPING Foundation Gig, I'll come and do 'C. Numb' on one of your Wall shows."
Waters says, teasingly, "How could I refuse such an offer. I couldn't, there was no way. Generosity trumped fear. And so explaining that I would probably be s---- -- but if he didn't mind I didn't -- I agreed and the rest is history. We did it, and it was f---ing great. End of story. Or possibly beginning."
A 'PS' tacked on the end of the note, adds to the anticipation of when exactly the pair will appear together. "Just heard from David, he will decide in due course which gig he wants to do, it will be a surprise!"
The Facebook note also pokes gentle fun at their famous long-running feud, saying, "Someone, I think it was David himself, came up with this 'Wouldn't it be funny', idea. What if he (David that is) were to sing the old Teddy Bears song 'To Know Him is to Love Him' with me (Roger that is), what with us having been so famously at each other's throats for years and years. Get it!!!!"
The post has already attracted almost 1,000 comments from fans demanding that Gilmour appear with Waters in various cities on the tour, the majority so far wishing for Antwerp, Belgium.

Ever since late 60s early 70s I am a fan and see them for the first time on the stage live in England in 1976 when they played "Wish You Were Here" and "Animal" is of thrilling moment in my life. See them 12 times or more ever since 1976 and I won't miss them till the day I am alive. Jarrahijoe@gmail.com

Best lighting and effects and, by far, the best sound I've heard in 37 years of concert going. Since you'll never see them again I suggest the Pulse DVD, it's the closest to the PF experience we'll ever get again.

July 18 2010 at 12:52 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWe saw Floyd at the Music Hall in Houston, Texas in '71 or '72. Houston's first Quadraphonic sound system concert, and possibly the only one. They had gigantic speakers set up in the corners, front and rear of the hall which was very small. No other band played. Pink Floyd played for a long time then there was an intermission and they returned for another long while. Upper balcony first row center stage seats for $5.50 each. Unbelievable. I attended very many concerts in my life but none ever topped that one !
