Bands are often known to blow their own trumpet when they've got a new album on the horizon – and it seems like the Strokes are no different, with singer Julian Casablancas going on record saying that their new record will be 'fantastic'.Speaking to XFM at last weekend's T in the Park festival in Scotland, the New Yorker seemed relatively upbeat about the prospects of the band's first album since 2006's 'First Impressions of Earth.'
When asked if the album was a labour of love, Casablancas replied, "It's been a labour! It's all good. I was going to make a joke and say it was a labour of necessity, but no, it's going to be fantastic."
Casablancas has been a busy man this summer, mixing up his duties and playing festival slots with both day-jobbers The Strokes and also his solo project too. The Strokes played much anticipated sets at Rockness and the Isle of Wight Festival, whilst he played solo at T in the Park and Glastonbury.
The release date of the Strokes' new album is slated for March 2011, as previously reported by Spinner. It is said to be 'almost half-way done' with the band being repeatedly distracted from making the record.
