Vampire Weekend -- New York's biggest fans of Paul Simon's 'Gracelands' album -- have spoken of their excitement of headlining their first-ever festival. Having graced a variety of some of the most prestigious festivals in the world, the quartet are set to close this weekend's Latitude festival in Suffolk on Sunday, July 18.With no little understatement, Bass player Chris Tomson told BBC Newsbeat, "It's exciting to build up the whole tour to this one headline show. Hopefully it'll go well."
It seems all festival roads have led to Vampire Weekend's prestigious billing at Latitude.
"We've done a lot of festivals. Reading and Leeds a few times, Glastonbury twice now but this is our first headlining spot I guess at a UK festival or any festival," he continued.
He added, "It's also the last show of the tour."
For keyboard player Rostram Batmanglij, the headline slot will allow Vampire Weekend to really flex their musical muscles. He said, "When we play all of the songs that we really know how to play it amounts to something pretty epic actually. It's epic for us to play for an hour-and-a-half. When we come off stage we feel satisfied."
Let's hope it's the same for the audience.
