The worlds of music and literature are set to meet head on as musicians as diverse as British Sea Power, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and Kele are set to contribute pieces to an online literary magazine. A collection of short stories and poems from the musicians will appear in Five Dials which is being published to coincide with the upcoming Port Eliot Festival which takes place July 23 to 25.
Among the articles is James Murphy's recollection of writing LCD Soundsystem's 'Losing My Edge.' Speaking to NME.com, Five Dials' editor Craig Taylor was fulsome in his praise of Murphy's piece saying, "We've got this section where we get people to write about a particular song and that's where James came in."
He continued, "It's very cool hearing him talk about the writing process behind that song and I think that song is a great because it's about loss, ageing and jealousy and it just happens to be set to music you can dance to."
The free edition of Five Dials will be available as a PDF file from July 24.
