Unfortunately for music fans, the collaboration is not happening. Jones' handlers say chatter like this is not unusual and dismiss this latest news as totally unfounded. "There are always rumours, and this is one," Jones' representatives tell Spinner. "All Tom has to do is mention that he's spoken with someone, and it gets taken to another level."
In other news, Jones has been busy promoting his recently released homage to the gospel, 'Praise and Blame,' which features guest spots from Booker T. Jones and Gillian Welch, but that doesn't necessarily mean Jones is moving to Nashville or Memphis. Because the 70-year-old singer has logged studio time with folks such as Portishead and Wyclef Jean, a Killers collaboration wouldn't be too hard to imagine. Still, Jones is preoccupied promoting the blues-and-rockabilly-tinged 'Praise and Blame' and Killers singer Brandon Flowers has his own solo record forthcoming.
Jones is slated to return to Las Vegas next month for a string of dates at the MGM Grand, starting Aug. 5.
