Bono Back Injury Costs Insurance Firm Millions

The now infamous back injury suffered by Bono that ruled U2 out of a headlining appearance at Glastonbury and curtailed their American tour has apparently cost his insurance company £11 million ($17 million).

Brokers Robertson Taylor are settling the bill after the singer hurt his back during rehearsals in May, requiring emergency surgery, reports The Sun.

The 50-year-old star is quoted as saying that his injuries were "quite serious" but that he was on the road to recovery. U2 have since rescheduled their cancelled US shows for May and June of 2011.

Spinner previously reported that the cancelled dates could cost U2 up to £100 million ($152 million), though the pain of that was probably eased with the news they'd topped Forbes 2010 list of Top Earning Musicians, beating competition from AC/DC and Beyonce Knowles.

The band was also in the firing line of John Lydon's recent tirade of ire against seemingly everyone, when he claimed the outfit should "never have existed."

To bad,in all sincerity. really the gas you have has a ton of nuro and siatic pressure.

Keep the spicey stuff and dairy to a min so you don't put pressure on you back eat more but smaller portions to keep adominal pressure low.

When you less mobile you metabolic cycle wants to slow down to so low fat high proten and cardio with the arms is good if your upper back is not the problem.

Insurance companies make me sick---their sole purpose is to COLLECT money and not pay on any claims. It is ridiculous, and I simply DESPISE insurance companies---they have no problem cashing your checks to pay their outrageous premiums, and they will cancel your policy if you are one minute late with your payment, but when it comes to putting in a claim, they delay and string you along and do everything possible to not have to pay----then they drop you. My house was robbed last week, the side door was kicked in so the door, door frame and storm door were destroyed, and the robber took over $11,000 worth of jewelry, $3,000 in change, electronics worth thousands, and do you know what they are going to give me---for my 20 years of homeowner's payments to them? A grand total of $5,000---$2,500 max for the jewelry, $200 for the coins, $1,450 for the doors, and $800 for the electronics. Over the course of 20 years I have probably given them over $40,000 to insure my home against fire, theft and water damage, and the most they are going to cover me for this robbery is $5,000!!! I have never made a claim before, and the agent told me--or should I say, threatened me---that if I make this claim, they would probably drop me. Can you believe that? They have no problem taking your money, but a HUGE problem giving you what you are paying for. The problem is, with a mortgage, I have to carry homeowner's insurance---God knows I'd rather go without it, if I could. It is not worth it to shell out over $2,000 a year for coverage if they aren't even going to honor the contract. It's bullsh*t. Insurance companies are the biggest scam in the world--instead of monitoring the Wall Street stuff, the government should assign a group to investigate the insurance companies and all the deceiving crap that they spew. They make me sick.

Cancellation Insurance is paid by the promoter not the band generally. They say the money was paid out but not to who. My guess is it went to the promoter who used it to offset the money paid to market the shows that will be refunded. If the band had any insurance it would likely have been paid out to the crew to keep them on retainer until the band was generating revenue again.

Isn't it a shame that the people with the most money are the biggest complainers, Bono keeps complaining about America but he sure loves our money.
