"Elton apologizes for the inconvenience caused due to his illness, but doctors assure him he will be fine," the venue's spokesperson, Kate Calhoun, said in a statement. It's not the first time John has canceled shows in the US. In the fall of 2009, he was hospitalized with an E. coli infection and symptoms of the flu, which forced him to scrap a run of West Coast gigs.
The Rocket Man will wrap up a series of US dates with two final shows this weekend at San Diego's Cricket Wireless Arena and the Harveys Lake Tahoe Amphitheatre. He will then embark on a five-night engagement at the Monte Carlo Sporting Club in Monaco on Aug. 2 and has live dates booked throughout Europe until the end of 2010.
