The second single and opening track from the Vancouver quartet's forthcoming album, 'Wilderness Heart,' (available Sept. 14) may have started out as a subdued folk affair, but fans now have plenty of driving chords and countrified flourishes to feast upon. "I think the rhythm section really carries the song," says Webber, who notes that once they band had gathered in the studio, the feel-good tune came together pretty quickly. "It was really fun and fast to record."
A video for 'The Hair Song' is also on the way, though the outfit is keeping the concept under wraps for the time being. Webber does, however, gave Spinner a few hints about the follow-up to their debut, the mystical 'Old Fangs,' the which you can watch below.
"We filmed the [new] video in Ontario in this little country town that I've never been to before and have actually never even heard of," she says. "It was beautiful and on the lake, but also really touristy in kind of a cool way. [Our director] found these old sort of castle-y ruins and had us playing out in the tall grass between them."
"We actually had actors this time too," she adds. "I'm hoping that we're just in the very last bit of the video. I think it's more the actors' time to shine."
While listeners are getting acquainted with 'The Hair Song' and fantasizing about the cinematic treats that await in the forthcoming music video, they can also enter Jagjaguwar's pre-order contest for 'Wilderness Heart' if they happen to live in the United States. One lucky U.S. fan will win two tickets to see Black Mountain's performance at the Knitting Factory in New York City August 30th, as well as two Band Bench passes to see the band perform the following day on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,' and $300 towards travel and accommodations.
