Black Crowes Confess to '20 Years of Tall Tales'

The Black Crowes have amassed a healthy -- or unhealthy, depending on your take -- amount of controversy over the years, piling their rock 'n' roll mystique high with tales of debauchery and excess. Some of those tales are tall; others are simply solid in their magnitude. It's been speculated that the band spent more than $1,000,000 on an album that took more than a decade to be released. They were kicked off of Aerosmith tour, then reinstated. They've been banned, barred, branded and bamboozled during their long and winding road and now, at what could be the end of it, they're willing to tell all. Or, at least, fearless frontman Chris Robinson is.

The confessions are expected to flow like wine as Robinson speaks candidly in a new web series called '20 Years of Tall Tales.' The webisodes will be rolled out daily throughout the month of August via the band's official website, beginning August 3 -- timed, conveniently, with the release of their new double album 'Croweology.' Directed by John Vanover, a press release for the series states that Robinson holds nothing back: "It's all here: the highs, the lows, the controversies, the arrests, feuds and more."

The Black Crowes have previously announced that they will go on an indefinite hiatus at the end of the year, when they wrap up their 'Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys 2010' tour with a six-night stand at the Fillmore in San Francisco. We're guessing that, by then, Robinson will have a few more tales to add to the pile.
