Nick Cave Penning Script for 'Crow' Remake

Although there's no confirmation, Cave is a plausible candidate thanks to his screenplay work on the John Hillcoat films 'The Proposition' and 'Ghosts... of the Civil Dead.' As evidenced by his six books, including his latest novel 'The Death of Bunny Munro,' the man is quite a creative force.
Once dubbed a "screenwriter to watch" by Variety, Cave -- who is also busy promoting his second Grinderman album in advance of its Sept. 14 release -- purportedly wrote a proposed sequel to 'Gladiator' at the request of fellow Aussie Russell Crowe that was subsequently rejected by studio heads. More recently, Cave has also finished a script for a movie titled 'The Death of a Ladies Man,' which is currently in development.
While filming 1994's 'The Crow,' actor Brandon Lee -- Bruce Lee's son -- was accidentally killed during a shooting scene. When the remake was first announced last year, original director Alex Proyas called the notion "ridiculous," telling Digital Spy, "I have nothing to do with the remake of 'The Crow.' That's other people involved with that, and I wouldn't even dream of remaking the movie, because as far as I'm concerned that's Brandon Lee's movie, and that's why I finished the movie -- in memory of Brandon. That's the only reason I finished it, actually."

Seems like a lot of people still go to movies these days and pay more than ever. So why doesn't Hollywood seem to have the money for new scripts?
