The doctors were being investigated by state Attorney General Jerry Brown's Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
In a statement, attorney Brian Oxman, who is representing Joe Jackson in a wrongful death lawsuit against Murray, said: "I am very disappointed. The misuse of medications by Michael Jackson in the last years of his life was excessive and to fail to bring that to the public eye is ignoring reality."
According to reports, Jerry Brown's spokeswoman, Christine Gasparac, said that one unnamed doctor has been referred to the California Medical Board for prescribing drugs to one of Jackson's aliases.
The investigation involved searching a database that keeps track of which controlled substances doctors prescribe, how much they prescribe, and who they prescribe those substances to.
This seems to bring an end to the wider investigation into Jackson's death, with a federal Drug Enforcement Agency spokeswoman saying that they had stopped investigating all other doctors thought to be involved as well.
These investigations were prompted by requests from Los Angeles police, who had asked state and federal agencies to examine which substances had been prescribed by the doctors who had treated Jackson.
Not among those investigated was Conrad Murray, the personal doctor of Jackson, who pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter on Feb. 8 2010, and was released on bail.
Authorities say that it was Murray who gave Jackson the mix of sedatives, including a powerful anaesthetic, which killed him. Jackson had reportedly been given Propofol, Lorazepam and Midazolam on the night of his death, Jun. 25 2009.
