Steven Tyler Angers Aersomith With 'American Idol' Rumours

Tyler's comments regarding his possible shift in career and focus were made to the press last weekend at an after-show party in Las Vegas, Nev. -- an event the rest of the band were noticeably absent from. Perry explained, "There was an Aerosmith after-party at Studio 54 after the Vegas show -- which none of us in the band knew anything about -- and he said some stuff there. I mean, this is no small thing."
On the way to the party Tyler told reporters that his future plans included "recording an album and (I'm) probably going to be a judge on 'American Idol.'" When further prompted on the Idol issue he said, "I'm doing it. What do you think? I'm doing it."
Perry approached the singer before the band's show on Saturday night, July 31, at the MGM Grand, but Tyler told him he couldn't discuss the 'Idol' rumours. Perry is clearly losing patience with his errant sidekick, "I mean, after working with me for 40 years, he couldn't tell me about this. Why so secretive? We're told it's a done deal. If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We'd like to plan our lives, ya know?"

Well I can't stand looking at him. UGLY he is. So that will be the end of me watching American Idol. Anyway the show is just about over and might as well fold.

A lot of people on here are not true Aerosmith fans. Back around 1977/78 and they have now become music icons. Of course they have a huge amount of hits but I have requested as a dying wish to have "Dream On" played at my funeral.

Have been a longtime/lifetime Aerosmith fan. Love Tyler...who has endured, despite the drug culture of Rock & Roll...SURVIVED, and remains high on the list of entertainers we want to see/hear.
My advice to Steven...do NOT do the A.I. gig. It's a dead-end, and you're MUCH better than that. Look, Sir Elton turned it down---THANK GOD---because he had the good sense to know a loser when he was offered one.

So it looks like Steven Tyler don't want to miss a thing. That's certainly a sweet emotion, but it's crazy. He should just be an angel and stick with what he's good at. Trying to do too much will leave you livin' on the edge, feeling like a rag doll, and make a dude look like a lady. It's the same old song and dance with a lot of celebs who think they're kings and queens. I hope Tyler and Aerosmith can come together and get back in the saddle. The band does seem to have nine lives.

Tyler, you are a has-been old lady. You never were much anyway. You got where you are on the backs of the band M.F. Go ahead be a judge on Idol with the rest of showbusiness's shit. Then, that will be the end of you.
Once you got some of that pain killer into you it turned you around and into the ingrate you were before.You are treating the band and Joe just the way you have treated your famlies, like shit. Suck this A.H.

A real rocker wouldn't have anythiing to do with a geek show like american idol. tyler is getting old, he looks like he's in his mid to late 60's.
