Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos Joins Edwyn Collins for Show

Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos and the Magic Numbers' Romeo Stodart joined Edwyn Collins on stage at London's 100 Club on Wednesday night, Aug. 11, as the former Orange Juice frontman launched his new album.

As previously reported in Spinner, Collins is set to release his first full-length work since he suffered a stroke in 2005. To complete 'Losing Sleep,' the solo artist called in support from a variety of collaborators, a couple of whom accompanied him at the historic Oxford Street venue.

NME.com says Kapranos played on the number 'Do It Again,' to which he contributed vocals and played guitar on the album. The Franz Ferdinand singer stayed around to add extra guitar to Collins' 1995 hit 'A Girl Like You.'

Earlier in the evening, Stodart took the stage with Collins, as on the album, for 'It Dawns On Me.' Back to something like rude health, the Scottish artist played 18 songs, including classics from his 1980s group, 'Blue Boy' and 'Rip it Up.'

The Cribs' Ryan Jarman, Johnny Marr and the Drums all feature on the album, released Sept. 13, but failed to make this one-off preview date.
