In Their Words: "Ah, the Great Ice Storm of '08 -- maybe you saw it in the news? From New Hampshire to Pennsylvania, the Northeast was pounded by a severe ice storm. Animal Collective were staying at my house, recording the soundtrack to their movie. Then the ice came. Then the power went out. Then the world fell silent except for the constant cracking of wood as trees began to fall. Our road was closed for three days. It was freaky and dangerous to even walk down our driveway. We almost got hit by half a tree falling from the sky, and [trees fell] within earshot about every 10 seconds. I've seen ice storms but never like this.
