A post appeared yesterday afternoon on his official account, saying, "All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds."
However, a spokesperson for the festivals confirmed that the band was still playing both events and that Rose's Twitter account had been hacked.
A statement sent to Spinner said, "Festival Republic are informed by GN'R management that Guns N' Roses have NOT cancelled their performances at Reading and Leeds and that Axl Rose's twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded."
The band plays Reading Festival on Aug. 27 and Leeds Festival on Aug. 29 as part of a European and UK arena tour stretching into October.
The dates are the rock outfit's first in the UK for four years and are part of the ongoing 'Chinese Democracy Tour,' which kicked off way back in 2001.
New guitarist Dj Ashba had made no reference to the cancellation when tweeting a few hours after the 'announcement' appeared on Rose's verified Twitter page.
He wrote, "Still in rapid city Buying guns with Axl, just bought me a smith & w. 44 snub nose!! America F%#k yeah!"
