Online rumours of a collaboration between pop's hottest property and one of modern music's most important figures began circulating last week after a scanned document purporting to be a recording sheet surfaced on Lady Gaga's website. The source is alleged to be an employee at Interscope Records in Santa Monica and the sheet claims that Bowie has co-written a song called 'Vinyl' as well as being listed as co-producer, guitarist and backing vocalist. Bowie has been keeping a relatively low profile since undergoing heart surgery in 2004.
The statement from Bowie emphatically denies that the pair have worked together. "When this tall story first surfaced a few days ago it was denied as a hoax in an update to the same article, and we thought that would be the end of it," the statement reads.
"I guess some folk see what they want to see though."
Lady Gaga, meanwhile, has told fans to expect great things form her next album -- the follow-up to 'The Fame.' Speaking to i-D magazine, she claimed, "I'm on the quest to create the anthem for my generation for the next decade, so that's what I've done."
