Screaming Females -- Listen Up!

We're constantly getting turned on to new music here at Spinner HQ. Between our Free MP3 of the Day and weekly Free CD Listening Party, we hope you are too. To help further the cause, we're gonna bring you our personal must-hear music picks with Listen Up! -- Spinner's weekly spotlight on staff-approved artists who rock our world.
Who: Screaming Females
Hail From: New Brunswick, N.J.
Why We Love Them: Fronted by diminutive dynamo Marissa Paternoster -- whose vocal delivery is equal parts Chrissie Hynde and John Lydon -- this trio serves up a punk-rock dish of searing guitars, throbbing bass and furious drums that you can still taste the next day.
Essential Listening: 'I Don't Mind It' (MP3 Download)

Exclusive Q&A With Screaming Females:
What's your favorite album right now?
Jarrett Dougherty (Drums): Magrudergrind, 'Magrudergrind.'
Marissa Paternoster (Vocals/guitar): Dusty Springfield, 'Dusty in Memphis.'
King Mike (Bass): Ash, 'Free All Angels.'
Tell us about the first concert you ever saw.
Jarrett: Probably my dad playing a show at a folk festival or at a house. My mom always tells the story about how once when I was really young we were at one of my dad's shows and I said, loud enough for the whole audience to hear, "Mom, can we go home? I've heard all these songs before!"
What's your biggest vice?
Marissa: Napping. Napping is my greatest pleasure.
What's the story behind your band name?
Jarrett: Where we got the name isn't very interesting. To me it was a thought provoking image. So far it hasn't seemed to provoke much thought other than "... but you're not all girls."
If you could tour with one band for 3 months, who would it be? Why?
Jarrett: It wasn't three months but Jay Reatard had just asked us to do a six-week tour with him right before he died. What a bummer.
