Frontman Caleb Followill was quoted by The Sun saying, "We're already plenty rich, we don't need it. We're like thousand-aires, multiple thousands, multiple."
The band used their V Festival headline slots to debut tracks from the new album, an album which encompasses the sounds of their career-to-date. The singer continued, "This record has got a little bit of every record we've ever made to this point. And all the people that only know us from the last record -- which is quite a few people -- we wanted to show them a little bit of our background and the kind of music that we've been trying to make all the while."
Followill was speaking before the band took to the Stafford stage to close this year's V Festival, a performance which although met with mixed reviews provided Followill with one of his "favourite shows in a long time," the NME reported.
Talking to the crowd early on he declared, "I can already tell there is something in the air tonight. We are going to have a good time alright."
Later during his band's set he praised the crowd, saying, "We were hoping that tonight would be a good show. I can assure you we had no idea you guys were going to be as good as you are. This is going to go down as one of my favourite shows in a long time."
However according to WENN not everyone was so happy with the Kings. Former Beautiful South man Paul Heaton told fans during his performance, "I don't like Kings of Leon; they've got their own compound. We couldn't get in because we didn't have beards ... Everyone has been really nice except the Kings."
