Neil Young Releasing 'Le Noise' Album in September

Neil Young has announced the Sept. 28 release of his new studio album, 'Le Noise.' The proper follow u- to his 2008 concept disc, 'Fork in the Road,' was recorded in a Los Angeles mansion with producer Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan).

"'Le Noise' is complete," Young wrote on his Facebook page. "It is a solo record. Playbacks are happening now." According to his update, the disc will be available on vinyl, CD and iTunes in its first edition, followed by releases in the Blu-Ray format and as an iPhone and iPad application by late October. The app will be free and feature an interactive album cover.

Speaking of the term "album," Young wrote, "Forgive my use of the word 'album'. I am old school. When you buy the songs/movies from iTunes, the show up in your App."

As for the disc itself, Lanois -- who has been recovering from a serious motorcycle accident -- previously spoke of the project with Rolling Stone. "We cut a couple of solo acoustic songs," the producer divulged. "There's no band, but I got in there with my sonics. There's nothing else out there like it."
