The Libertines Are Sounding 'Bang On' Says Carl Barat

In preparation for their comeback appearance at this weekend's Reading and Leeds festivals, the Libertines have been hard at work rehearsing and are now sounding "bang on", according to singer and guitarist Carl Barat.

In a message to the band's loyal support, Barat said the quartet had been "rehearsing furiously" for the past two weeks, he said in a message to fans (via Gigwise).

As reported by Spinner, rehearsal footage featuring the band reprising 'Up the Bracket' track 'Horrorshow' surfaced on YouTube last week. In the video the four are seen huddled around the camera before Pete Doherty says, "Alright, it's recording so let's go straight into one."

Whether their efforts will pay off should become more apparent on Wednesday night Aug. 25, when the Libertines play a warm-up gig at The Forum in London.

Apparently relishing the main event over the weekend, Barat said, "Really looking forward to taking to the stage on Wednesday and the big ones on Friday and Saturday. Should be a mad couple of shows."

The Libertines are playing the Leeds and Reading Main Stage on Friday, Aug. 27, and Saturday, Aug. 28, respectively.
