Jimmy Page to Release Autobiography With Expensive Price Tag

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page could probably ramble on for days with a whole lotta stories about the band's rise and fall. At least some of those tales will no doubt appear in his new photographic autobiography which NME.com reports will be released on Sept. 27. The book will contain more than 500 pages and 650 images, spanning Page's legendary career.

Page will personally autograph each book in the limited series of just 2,500 copies. Books usually don't come with a catch but this one does, in the form of its price tag. The book will cost £445. -- or, roughly, $688. -- before shipping and handling fees. Guess all that officially makes it the collector's edition. "I appreciate fine bookbinding," Page states on the publisher's website. And, indeed, the 'Jimmy Page' book (which is self-titled, by the way) will be quarter bound in morocco leather with unique perspex font and back boards and printed on 170gsm fine art paper.

For fans that don't want to drop that kind of money on their coffee table... maybe next time you'll buy those cupcakes from your local library's bake sale.

The chapter on his performance at Live Aid will be a disjointed, incoherent mess.

Jimmy will blame this on Phil Collins.

This is a collectors item limited edition meant to keep it's value. It is offered by a publisher known for putting out this type of item. This type of headline is bad journalism and they should be ashamed of themselves.

To Mr Specialized !! I dont have to prove a thing to you . I have pictures or us together in 1962 to 1962, We did BBC radio broadcasts from BBC in 1963 from their broad street studios in Brum for a top of the pops style show called " come on in" which was presented by a lady called Shirley Franklin.
Also Johns dad ,Jack Bonham used to court my sister !! before they fell out !! Sorry pal you know NOTHING about Bonham only the rubbish that you have seen in magazines etc !! We knocked about for years afterwards when he returned to Redditch between tours ! I told him then that I thought Zeppelin were rubbish ! Anyway good luck to them all for making loads of money from the misinformed "fans" ! Bonham was without a doubt the best drummer i have ever heard in my life !!
AS for my musical career, I have played in bands since i was 14 and i,m 65 now !! I am still alive and kicking as well .

Mike you know fans don't like it if you knock their idols. I remember seeing them at Bath and they were excellent. If I remember rightly. (You know what they say about the 60's)

I think some of the above comments are a bit off the mark. The fact is Led Zep, did make it, and obviously against the critics at the time, who said they were basically rubbish and out of tune. Whether John BOnham was in Mikes band or not, doesnt detract from the success of Led Zep. A Band is collection of several people all adding their portion to make a full band sound. It's that sound that people like and enjoy, then and now. Although I am not able to afford Jimmy's book,I dont blame him for selling it, because it will be snapped up very quickly and then double in price over night. Excellent marketing IMHO.

Perhaps Jimmy has lost touch with the kind of money his fans can afford; a great shame. Many of us would really like to read his autobiography and have great respect for him and the music. Many of us appreciate fine bookbinding and could afford to pay a small premium for this attribute but sadly this price is beyond the price that we mere mortals, who helped make him and supported him when he was less well off, can possibly pay for. He has the perfect right to present his autobiography in the style and at the price he wishes but perhaps after reflection he may issue an edition his many fans can afford. Let's hope so.

Wow! This takes 'vanity' publishing (which this is!)to new heights! Basically, any 'takers' are paying for his own copy, plus extra-profits; plus an ego-boost to match! It is similar to 'subscription' publications of an earlier time.

John Bonham lives in my wardrobe but unfortunatley there is no room for Robert Plant and Jimmy page as well.

Anyone who pays more than a fiver for that book will have been done!! Led Zeppelin were and still are, one of the most untuneful piles of musical trash that ever appeared anywhere !! John Bonham played in my band for 3 years before joining those other 3 and without him, they would have been consigned to the musical dustbin from the outset.
