Bjork has written 'The Comet Song' for the forthcoming 3D children's movie 'Moomins and the Comet Chase,' based on the much-loved Finnish stories with their cute characters. The Icelandic artist's involvement was announced last November and reported by Spinner.
Available digitally from Sept. 6, all proceeds from the release will go to Unicef in support of Pakistan flood victims. The pixie-like singer wrote the music for 'The Comet Song,' while the words came from her occasional collaborator, the author and poet Sjon.
This is all we may hear from her this year, but the announcement regarding the download adds the track "comes ahead of new highly anticipated projects from Bjork in 2011." The big-hearted artist's last single also benefited charities -- proceeds from 2008's 'Nattura' went towards a website of the same name dedicated to collating eco-friendly ideas for her homeland.
Bjork's last album, 'Volta,' came out in 2007 and since then she has collaborated sporadically, notably with Thom Yorke on 'Nattura.' The solo artist also worked with Dirty Projectors' on the 'Mount Wittenberg Orca' EP, again a charity-supporting release.
