Michael Franti and Spearhead, 'The Sound of Sunshine' -- Video Premiere

Michael Franti is a musical diplomat for all things heady in this world, and he doesn't disappoint with the video for 'The Sound of Sunshine.' There's no preaching and nobody's claiming to be righteous; instead, Franti just wants people to relax and have a good time. And what better place for that kind of message than Venice Beach, Calif.? Once ruled by Jim Morrison and later patrolled by meatheads on an area known as "muscle beach," the boardwalk is a lively stretch where bohemians, beach bums, artists, hippies, surfers and skaters all put on a good show for the tourists.

"We shot the video on Venice Beach in California because people from so many different walks of life come there to have a great time; to let go and let the sun shine in," Franti explains to Spinner. "These days there is much to worry about. The economy, climate change, war or just making it through a rough day. 'The Sound of Sunshine' is a song about the sun's ability to make any day better."

Now, thanks to Michael Franti and Spearhead -- with a little help from director Frank Borin, of course -- you can have sunshine 365 days a year just like they do in Venice Beach, simply by clicking on the video below.

Warm & beautiful, just like Mr. Franti himself! What else can I say? Jolene Rust plays the waitress in the video; she is his girlfriend & backup singer for Michael Franti & Spearhead; she is working on her own album, too - sounds pretty good so far, too! How special it was to watch this video on a special day like today where I received the call about beginning the adoption process as Mr. Franti and I are both (reunited) adoptees!
